De Novation LaunchKey 61 is een uniek nieuwe keyboard wat voor verschillende dingen kan worden gebruikt. Net als andere Novation keyboards is het een goed wat gemakkelijk kan worden aangesloten op PC, Mac en laptop als compleet volwaardige MIDI controller en studio keyboard met natuurlijk 61 toetsten en veel controller pads, faders en andere extra knoppen om je recording software mee te sturen en vele functies te veranderen.
Daarnaast is dit nieuwe type keyboard een revolutie op zich. Het maakt gebruik van een aantal trigger functies van de die via de aangestuurd kunnen worden. En daarnaast ook nog de unieke LaunchKey app. Deze 2 apps werken via de iPad volledig samen met het keyboard en kunnen zowel via de iPad, als via de trigger pads en knoppen op het LaunchKey keyboard aangestuurd worden! Dus je hebt een volledige synthesizer en soort van LaunchPad met een studio MIDI keyboard in 1.
